What is Parma EYC2027?
More than a title, a laboratory for the city
Parma European Youth Capital 2027 is a project promoted by the Municipality of Parma and developed together with younger generations. It was created to give young people an active role in the decisions that concern the present and the future of the city, creating new opportunities for participation, training, expression and growth.
It is an active community, led by the Local Youth Council, and a European laboratory dedicated to youth policies, inclusion, sustainability and active citizenship.

The project was created with the aim of empowering young people to play an active role in the city. It promotes participation, inclusion and sustainability, creating concrete opportunities to imagine and realise new ways of experiencing and shaping life in Parma.
The Ways of Transformation
July 2023
The journey begins
The Municipality of Parma officially presents its candidacy and launches a participatory platform dedicated to young people. The Youth Commission is established, initially composed of 27 young people aged 16 to 22 selected through a public call.
July–October 2023
The first ideas become a vision
The Transformative Weekend and the Open Space Technology event "A Great Square for Europe" involved hundreds of young people in defining ideas, values and priorities. This process led to the first document that would form the basis of the bid dossier.
January 2024
The dossier is presented to the city
During “Mi Prendo il Mondo”, the dossier is presented as the result of a collaboration between hundreds of young people and over 218 organisations.
March 2024
Parma makes the shortlist
Parma was selected as one of the five finalist cities and is the only Italian candidate for the title of European Youth Capital 2027.
Spring–Summer 2024
The project continues to grow
The Democracy Festival and the Summer Camp at the Lagdei Refuge become new opportunities for discussion, collaborative writing and defining activities. Meanwhile, the Commission expands to involve over 80 young people between the ages of 16 and 35.
November 2024
Parma is named European Youth Capital 2027
Following the final presentation of the dossier in Brussels, Parma was officially awarded the title on 21 November. A collective achievement built around participation, sustainability, inclusion and narrowing the generation gap.
